If you love fashion, chances are that one of your first encounters with the industry was with a fashion magazine. The only thing more exciting than what’s inside of those glossy pages, are the faces that land the opportunity to be the face on the cover of them. This month those faces include Dakota Johnson for Elle magazine, Rihanna for Vogue, Lady Gaga for Harper’s Baazar, Kristen Stewart for Marie Claire and Taylor Swift for Glamour.

Want of The Week: Christian Louboutin So Kate Pumps

Every woman knows that there’s nothing like that go to black pair of black pumps. Not only are they stylish, but essential. Now picture a black pair of black pumps that have an exaggerated pointed toe, sexy arch, and a sleek patent leather finish. This is the So Kate pump by Christian Louboutin.

 The shape of the shoe is so beautiful that I think I fell in love immediately. Not to mention the 4.75″ heel, these definitely are not your mom’s pair of pumps.   The So Kate pumps are a  modern take on the classic black pump, adding the sass that comes with wearing a pair of heels that you know are the bomb, even before having the chance to gracefully place your feet in them.

These beauties are $625.00, which personally I do not think is that bad. A classic shoe by a classic brand, in a classic style. Basically, this shoe will always be “in” and you will always look nothing less than fabulous  in them.

#PFW Thoughts: Anthony Vaccarello Brings Sexy Back

Before yesterday I will admit that I was unaware of the sultriness that signifies a brand none other than Anthony Vaccarello. However after being captivated by his provocative yet tastefully done runway show, I am no longer in the dark. Known for his short hem lines, and love of sheer, it is no surprise that the show featured a lot of both, yet it was a more specific item of clothing that may have perfectly accented this year’s pieces-the collar. Turtleneck dresses paired with knee length coats, plunging necklines paired with collar pieces, etc. Collars complementing simple shapes (such as with the fitted strapless dress), and bringing complex looks together (the look with the floor length coat). The woman that wears Anthony Vaccarello is not afraid of pushing the limits, and I can think of no reason that she should be.

Fashion News: Does Alexander Wang Have The ‘Coolest’ Ad Campaign of The Season?

Who would have ever thought that a bathroom would be the perfect setting for a major fashion brand’s spring advertising campaign? Chic sweatpants. Obscene sweatshirts. Chunky heels. Ankle straps. Leather skirts. Dresses. Models in positions that make you think of a hangover. And yet…it works. Actually, it does more than work. Alexander Wang’s spring ad campaign is naughty school girl grows up and meets high fashion, and clearly the two had a wild night.

There’s nothing sexy about falling off of the toilet, or straddling a bathroom sink…not until Alexander Wang gets involved anyway. I need to know who the mastermind is behind these tantalizing images.

Between the naughty school girl goes high fashion looks and the uncommon use of the bathroom as a place where such fashion is showcased, Alexander Wang produced a campaign unlike any other that I’ve seen. It is not only cool, it is the coolest. Every cool kid belongs in that bathroom. *Finds that bathroom with GPS*

Picture Perfect: Kim Kardashian Slays In Her ‘Olivia Pope’ Celine Coat

Kim Kardashian was captured recently spending some time in New York City with soon to be hubby, Kanye West, looking like she just stepped off a Parisian runway. The reality star was donning a beautiful cream Celine coat, and a head to toe outfit in the same color. As blogger Necole Bitchie said, this look would indeed make Olivia Pope proud.

Fashion News: Peter Pilotto For Target Is Coming, Few More Days!

So in the midst of all of the Fashion Week excitement, we cannot forget about the fact that the Peter Pilotto for Target collection hits stores this Sunday, February 9th. The collection features the Peter Pilotto’s signature colorful prints, but of course for a much  better price! I am completely in love with the  collection, to the point that (in no exaggeration) I think I want every piece. Every dress, each separate, and two of each accessory. My only fear is that because the collection is soooo good, that it very well may sell out the first day. Get your feet or your fingers ready for shopping people, you don’t want to miss this!

#NYFW Thoughts: Rachel Roy Fall 2014

Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week 2014 shows are off to an exciting start. As it may be many of your dreams, it is also one of mine to be able to spend the week in New York City going from fashion show to fashion show, squeezing in a few pictures and small meals during the day and attending fashion events, networking and making memories late into the night. Until that dream becomes a reality, I am more than thankful for the fashion bloggers that keep us up to date, providing images and show reviews as soon as possible.

With that being said, I do make it a habit to stay very close to my iPhone, iPad and laptop to stay up to date on the shows of the day. One of the shows that stuck out to me the most today was the Rachel Roy Fall 2014 show. While many  designers produce breathtaking pieces that the average woman will not wear in her everyday life, Roy creates designs for the stylish woman of today, so that no matter what your profession is, or what role you play today, you will look nothing short of luxurious. In today’s show, she showed that ten years later, not only does she still have it, but she still has us (the everyday woman) in mind.

Mixed textures of lace, fur, tweed, and more dominated her collection…

As did beautiful patterns and high splits…

And the perfect accessories of leather gloves, and beautiful clutches. 

Who is the woman that wears Rachel Roy? She is hardworking. She is powerful. She is STYLISH.

Picture Perfect: Miley Cyrus’ Barely There Cover for W Magazine

Singer, Miley Cyrus, looks absolutely amazing as she bares all for her W Magazine cover, and even more chic inside of her feature spread. Aside from her punk jewelry (which I love), and her pillow, Cyrus is definitely naked. I’m not sure what it is about this cover that captivates me most, maybe it is the simplicity of it all.

Miley does not look like her regular punk rock, twerking with life size animals self here. She actually looks pretty serene and almost as if she is indeed…a model.  Don’t believe me? Just look at these images.

Red Carpet Fashion: Can’t Get Enough of Lupita Nyong’o? Me Either!

’12 Years A Slave’ star, Lupita Nyong’o, has been the best dressed on each red carpet that she’s graced since the very premiere of the movie at the Toronto International Film Festival, in which she appeared absolutely angelic in a white and gold Prada number. Since that appearance alone, Lupita has become known for her uniquely bold, yet elegant sense of style and has garnered her own sector of fans who await her arrival on every red carpet.

This is where Lupita Nyong’o first captivated me. She looked absolutely angelic in this white Prada gown, lightly detailed by the gold pattern and perfectly accented by that beautiful gold clutch.

The actress took this red carpet by storm at the Los Angeles  premiere of  ’12 Years a Slave’  in a delicately printed Miu Miu piece. It comes as no surprise that the stylish actress was chosen as one of the faces for the brands spring campaign for 2014. I cannot wait to see her in more Miu Miu pieces.

It is no secret that Lupita won the title of best dressed at the Golden Globes in this elegant gown and cape by Ralph Lauren.  She came, she saw, she slayed the red carpet.

Lupita owned  the red carpet again, in this white Calvin Klein gown with cutouts. They were just enough to give this dress a beautiful silhouette.

Lupita let a bit of her beautiful figure show in this breathtaking turquoise dress by Gucci. The color compliments her skin tone so perfectly, this was a match made by the fashion gods.

Fashion Ave & Sixth: The Blog is Back!

It has been almost a year since I stopped posting on this blog, and honestly, it just has not felt right not blogging. I felt a piece of me missing during fashion week back in September and another when Miley Cyrus was chosen as the face of Marc Jacobs’ spring 2014 campaign and Erykah Badu was chosen as the face of Givenchy’s. The ultimate discovery of my missing piece of fashion blogging? No red carpet post for the Grammys?! It was then that I realized I absolutely had to get back to blogging.

So I’m back. In the midst of finishing up an internship, my spring semester starting soon, and come what may, I will be posting on this blog. Enough talking, time to get to it right?
