Lovers of the fashion world, myself included are anticipating fashion’s newest editorial; the glossy pages of CR Fashion Book, which is the artistic creation of style icon and former French Vogue editor, Carine Roitfeld herself. “A celebration of fashion and creativity,” is what Roitfeld said when asked by WWD to describe magazine, which is set to hit stands and stores September 13th. “The first issue is reportedly 288 pages, and as a testament to Roitfeld’s enduring popularity, the glossy apparently already has a whopping 100 pages of advertisements. Those are the facts. Now personally, I can’t wait to see what Carine Roitfeld has in store for us. One has to understand the gravity of what is happening here. She was the editor-in-chief of French Vogue and now she is the editor-in-chief of her own magazine, that will be Vogue’s competition! To make things even more interesting, Roitfeld is debuting her magazine during the most important month of fashion editorials, September. This isn’t a coincidence, this is strategy, and a wise one at that. I’m sure you’ve heard that Roitfeld is catching heat for leaving Vogue, but it hasn’t stopped her. Competition or beef, as others would call it, is just another way that CR Fashion Book is being marketed. And why not? With all the fuss, people are sure to take notice and want to know what CR Fashion Book is all about. Did I mention how wise this strategy is? Takes more than stylish clothes to survive in the fashion industry and Roitfeld knows that, hence the fact that she is winning this battle with her brain.
