Music Moment: Frank Ocean Comes Out “I Don’t Have Any Secrets I Need Kept Anymore”

As a country today we are celebrating our independence, but there is one person whose independence may be being celebrated even more, and that is that of singer/songwriter Frank Ocean. In case you are unaware, early in the wee hours of this morning, Frank Ocean posted a very revealing letter on his Tumblr page. In the letter, the ‘Thinking Bout You’ singer opened up about his sexuality, revealing that his first true love was with  a man.

To catch you up a little more, over the last week a report had surfaced by a blogger who had the opportunity to listen to Ocean’s upcoming album, Channel Orange. She claimed that there were at least three songs that she listened to that she remembered hearing him, where we would have expected her. Her report was shocking and the media as well as his fans were in desperation to find out the truth. A week later, Ocean somehow found the strength to open up to the world by posting a letter he had previously penned.

Frank Ocean’s story of love and heartbreak was enlightening. He revealed that at 19 years old he met a man that was the same age. The two went on to spend each day of their summer together, and his description of their interaction was just as dreamy as someone that was in love. “4 summers ago, I met somebody,” he wrote. “I was 19 years old. He was too. We spent that summer, and the summer after, together. Everyday almost. And on the days we were together, time would glide. Many are commending Frank Ocean, for without a doubt it took courage and confidence to take this major step.Channel Orange will undoubtedly be amazing.
