Inspired by a recent trip to Napal, Aaron Moran based his exotic collection off of the wooden sculptures he witnessed while there. “They capture, for him, the beautiful decay he witnessed on a recent trip home to Nepal and provided the Rorschach-like motif that’s become a trademark over the last couple of seasons” The collection is an exploration of geometric shapes, as well as reduced lines and the simple color that offset them, such as pretty peaches and touches of turquoise. Sprinkled throughout the collection are shades of navy and yellow, and even multiple patterns.
As with every Resort collection, there are various styles of clothing. What stands out in this collection are the shapes created through the lines, as well as the illusions created by the patterns. We must not forget the peplum style, which is an elegant and dainty detail for women’s wear. This may very well be my favorite Resort 2013 collection so far. It’s underlying theme of simplicity, yet accents of detail bring the collection together, while the crafting of each individual piece enhances the collection as a whole.
