On Wednesday, the Kardashian family received a visit from none other than Oprah Winfrey. This visit was by no means casual either, Oprah was at the Jenner house to tape a long interview with the family. There are many people who are absolutely tired of the Kardashian clan and wish that they would simply have a seat. I however believe that they have created a brand and an empire with their family, and that is something I respect. I don’t knock success.
Oprah must have been aware of the controversy that would come along with choosing to interview the Kardashians because she posted a letter to her fans defending her decision. In the letter Oprah explained that although has never met them or watched their shows, she was intrigued by America’s fascination with the family and that is what prompted her decision to conduct the interview.
Here’s some of what she wrote:
Ok my friends I had the longest interviewing session I can ever recall, talking to ALLLLLLLL the Kardashians. I had never met them, nor seen the show. I did a full on Kardashian Kram in preparation, watching major shows from every season. I genuinely wanted to know why they have become a cultural phenomenon? Why do so many people love to watch their every move and why do so many others love to hate them. Are they completely ego centered? Are they really “famous for being famous” or is there something more?
I “GOT IT” … those answers +more. Those of you who watch the show know they hold nothing back. This interview I’d say was another level of forthrightness and honesty. Who surprised me the most? Scott. Lamar and Khloe. Kim.
Everyone who’s asked was the marriage a publicity stunt? Why did she leave after 72 days? Her answer leveled me.
